The sweet feeling of guilt
The autumn is here and life of routines starts again. All the warm memories of summer have gone with the wind and routines take over. Like it or not your calendar starts to fill in on all areas of life. While your active lifestyle might make you happier and more healthier you also notice the climbing notion of guilt. Guilt of everything. Guilt of not being in five place at the same time, guilt of doing too little or too much. Guilt of trying to find a balance in your life. But is there more to guilt than the sweetly depressing feeling of it?
Lets face it: we all feel guilty at times (excluding psychopaths). You might be doing too little or too much. You find yourself trying to be a perfect dad, a super business man and a perfect lover (hopefully to your own spouse). Yes, we all have had these feelings but have we ever thought why?
One day I noticed again the up coming feeling when I was changing from one role to another. It wasn't really that I wouldn´t have done the days work. I had and even more. My principle has always been that once you are totally given your all, you need to give 50% more. Then you know that you have achieved something.
The feeling I had got me thinking that it really is more about your mind saying you have done your 100+ something and you should move ahead to do something else. Its your unconsciousness saying you're ready to move on. Its a healthy sign of balance.
So next time you feel a bit guilty of going out from the office too early or skipping your trainings because of some quality time with your wife or family remember: Its all about balance in the end and you know it from the guilt. The gut wrenchingly sweet guilt.
